MONTH OF April
Necessity is the mother of invention—and as the zodiac’s “matriarch” sign, this month could find you poised to birth some new plans and goals. As the Sun visits Aries and your tenth house of long-term agendas until April 19, a strong sense of responsibility kicks in. Normally this month is a high point for your career, and no matter what your life looks like, you could be consumed with professional matters or important duties now.
But with all the changes happening in the world, Crab, there’s obviously no “business as usual” happening—on earth or in the stars! (As above, so below.) However, you CAN pour your energy into devising new structures that will bring a sense of normalcy to your days. This month calls for leadership—and as one of the zodiac’s four cardinal signs, you can step into that role and keep everyone calm and centered.
April 4 brings a rare (once every 13 years) meetup of supersizer Jupiter and secretive Pluto in Capricorn, this year being hosted in your partnership zone. As truth-teller Jupiter exposes what’s been hidden, you may be struck by a major realization about someone close to you. You might see their true colors, either in a romantic or professional alliance. Perhaps you recognize that your feelings are more than just casual, and you’re ready to proceed toward a serious commitment or sign on the dotted line.
Many couples and colleagues are being forced into a “new normal” now anyhow, letting down their guards while co-sheltering at home or revealing levels of vulnerability from struggling with a completely new work setup. The Jupiter-Pluto conjunction presents an opportunity to work together creatively, transforming challenges into opportunities. You could emerge from this with much stronger connective tissue.
Another scenario: You could let down your guard and learn something about each other that you never suspected. As many couples and business partners are forced to work in new configurations (closer or farther apart than they ever imagined). By learning to collaborate instead of compete, you might just strengthen your bond in the long run. Don’t quit right before the miracle happens, Crab. This is the first of 2020’s three Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions; the next two are on June 30 and November 12. By the end of this cycle, your partnerships could be on a completely different level if you make it through these karmic tests.
Your home life comes into sharp focus on April 7, when the annual Libra full moon beams into your domestic fourth house. The spotlight is on family matters and the wellbeing of Chateau Cancer. Given the current state of the world, there could be some air to clear and tension to settle under your roof. You may need to reconfigure shared space. Or, if you live alone and aren’t able to get out and socialize, you might feel more isolated than ever. Call for backup if your mood takes a dip today, whether that’s a visit from a loved one who’s in good health or quality bonding time by phone. More than any other sign, you need comfort and reassurance in times like these.
Feeling steady? Your soothing ways will be in high demand at this full moon. Reach out to a person who might be struggling. If you can’t get together, put together a nostalgic slideshow, make a playlist or do something that will help elevate their mood.
But careful not to step TOO far into that hornet’s nest, Cancer. If someone contacts you, great—but confronting an upset person could leave YOU with your head bitten off. Emotions, which already run high at a full moon, are exacerbated under a stressful aspect on April 7. Hotheaded Mars in your intense and private eighth house will lock into a tense square with disruptive Uranus in your eleventh house of groups. Tempers can run high, and people will be quick to snap. A simple disagreement with a colleague or friend could flare into a major meltdown, with barbs being thrown that you can’t take back. Keep it high-vibe, Cancer, even—especially!—if they go low.
Continue dodging power struggles mid-April as the Aries Sun in your tenth house of career and leadership gets snared in two tense squares with calculating Pluto (on April 14) and outspoken Jupiter (April 15). Jupiter and Pluto are both in Capricorn and your relationship zone, indicating that there could be major tension trying to balance work and your closest connections. If, like many people, you’ve been working from home, irritation could set in fast. Closeness might bring togetherness for a minute, but familiarity also breeds contempt. Instead of destroying each other, get savvy and strategic about how everyone can juggle their schedules and needs fairly.
Keep an eye out for jealous people who try to elevate themselves by bringing you down. And please, Crab, as valiant of a caretaker as you are, don’t play the hero at your own expense. You can handle a LOT, but even you have a breaking point. The April 15 Sun-Jupiter square can find you overestimating your own capacity. Share the load! You’re only one human being.
Collaborations get smoother starting April 19, when the Sun commences its monthlong visit to Taurus and your eleventh house of teamwork and technology. You’ll have a much easier time playing well with others. The April 22 Taurus new moon could help you turn to a fresh page in all your collaborations. You might sign up for an online membership group or adopt some technology that helps you feel more connected to like-minded people. Everyone’s already busy sharing their skills virtually—and while the world may develop “video chat fatigue,” don’t let that stop you from broadcasting your brilliance via livestream.
Just watch out for a tough square (90-degree angle) on April 21 between hotheaded Mars in Aquarius and the stubborn Taurus Sun. Jealousy and simmering resentments can cause people to dig in their heels. Your own intensified emotions could prevent you from playing well with others. The social and group-oriented vibes from the Sun in your communal eleventh house are totally at odds with Mars in your seething and privacy-seeking eighth house. This WOULD be the day to crawl into your Crab shell and lock it shut—with a “do not disturb” sign hung high. Better to get whatever alone time you can than take out your frustrations on people you need to keep as allies. Resist the temptation to people-please and sacrifice your need for breathing room, Crab!
In fact, you might need to get used to these rejuvenating solo spells because from April 25 to October 4, deep-diving Pluto will be retrograde (backward) in Capricorn and your relationship zone. You may step back and evaluate certain partnerships: Are the dynamics healthy, or could they use a bit of work? If you need some time apart, even if you don’t change the terms of your engagement, you may be better able to tune in to YOUR needs and desires. Retrogrades can bring back people from our past—and with shadowy Pluto here, you might just have some unfinished business to settle with an old romantic or business alliance.
Be ready to see things in a whole new light at the April 25 Sun-Uranus meetup in Taurus, a once-a-year day filled with surprises and unexpected events. A friend or person you meet online could rock your world in some way, opening your mind to a new way of seeing things. Be willing to connect with people, from both your past and new places.
LOVE & ROMANCE:
Ready for your “apology tour” (or maybe forgiveness fest), Cancer? It’s time to let go of the past, however you can. Love planet Venus begins an extended trip to Gemini and your twelfth house of surrender and closure from April 3 to August 7. You might be tempted to idealize someone who runs hot and cold. Since you may not be able to see each other and develop a true connection in real time, remember that you’re prone to projecting a fantasy onto this person.
Venus normally visits each sign for about a month, but since the planet of amour will be retrograde (backward) from May 13 to June 25, she’ll spend an extra-long time in this zone. Venus turns retrograde every 18 months, which can be difficult for love; this is a time when relationships hit rocky patches or require repair. Since retrogrades rule the past, an ex or two may resurface. Or an old fight could get rekindled. Begin your prevention efforts by making sure you have closure around lingering resentments with your partner or that a kinda-sorta person in your life is clear on where they stand.
Mars will march through Aquarius and your heated eighth house from March 30 to May 13. You could be toppled by intense feelings that seem to come in wave sets, taking your moods and emotions to extremes. You could ride the roller coaster of jealousy, lust and other highs and lows now, and if you’re cooped up with someone, even more so! Take breaks, and carve out space for privacy, which is essential for a Crab. Make sure your partner knows how much you need that “social distance,” pandemic or not! (You need closeness and affection equally, FYI.) If you’re single, you could be tempted to pass the time snooping or obsessing over an ex or love interest. Do your best to reroute your energy AWAY from fixation.
April 4: Venus-Saturn trine
Your most romantic wishes could be granted under this rare and solidifying sync-up of the love planet and reality-focused Saturn in your house of permabonding. Coupled? Let your partner support you emotionally. If they’re not sure what you need, don’t beat around the bush—tell them in plain English!
MONEY & CAREER:
Your ambition can’t be tamed, not even by the obstacles of a remote office or even an unplanned career curveball. With the Sun blazing through Aries and your tenth house of success until April 19, your natural leadership powers are at their annual high point. Stepping up and taking responsibility for the completion of a project comes naturally to you anyhow. But don’t absorb the burden alone, Crab. At the April 4 Jupiter-Pluto conjunction in your partnership house, you get a surge of clarity around your most important relationships. Who needs to be told, in no uncertain terms, to step up? And on the flip side, who’s shown up like a rock star during this crisis? You may decide to team up with someone from the latter group, either to support each other or to initiate a win-win endeavor. Have you carved out a clear space for yourself at home yet?
The April 7 Libra full moon in your domestic sphere inspires you to set up your new Crabshell HQ. Team up for the win starting April 19, when the Sun starts a monthlong visit to your eleventh house of groups and technology. Innovative solutions for working together in harmony will spark at the April 22 Taurus new moon. Start a mastermind, sign up for a virtual course or learn to code (places like Code Academy and General Assembly are awesome resources). Use this time off the raise your tech IQ.
