Just when you thought 2020 couldn’t get any worse.
There has been a LaVar Ball sighting, and, of course, some pretty memorable quotes to go along it. The patriarch of the talented Ball family was spotted on Twitter on Cinco de Mayo, perhaps a few more Coronas deep than he’d like to admit. Or maybe he was just being LaVar.
This time, the elder Ball doubled down on something of an old prediction: all three of his sons, Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo, will team up on the west coast in the future, with the Lakers.

Warriors face tough decision at No. 1; Timberwolves add LaMelo Ball
“They coming back to the Lakers later. That’s the inside scoop, don’t let them know that yet. We pop up all three of them over there.”

“Just between me and you, they coming back to the Lakers later,” Ball said. … “That’s the inside scoop, don’t let them know that yet. We pop up all three of them over there.”
Of his three sons, Lonzo is the only one with current NBA experience, and was shipped from the Lakers to the Pelicans in the Anthony Davis mega-deal last offseason, so a reunion at this juncture seems pretty unlikely. Middle child LiAngelo is currently with the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA G League after a tumultuous college career at UCLA that resulted in his dismissal from the school due to a shoplifting incident in 2017. He has yet to appear in a game with the Blue.
LaMelo, the youngest of the Ball family, is a top-five prospect in the 2020 NBA Draft and could go No. 1 overall. No chance he drops to the Lakers, though, as they were the best team in the western conference this year.
Some hexes have to be reversed, some chickens have to be sacrificed and some voodoo magic has to be culled in order for all three Ball brothers to end up in LA at some point in the future.
But hey, LaVar’s been right before.
