Taylor Swift may have postponed her 2020 Lover Fest tour dates, in light of coronavirus safety concerns, but she’s resurrecting a show for her fans this month. “We filmed my show in Paris in September and thought it’d be fun to share it with you,” Swift tweeted on Friday, sharing that an ABC concert special called Taylor Swift City of Lover Concert will air on May 17.
Back in September, Swift performed a collection of songs off her latest album for an intimate crowd at L’Olympia Theater in Paris, France. That performance was filmed.
“While we are all home, Taylor Swift and her family of fans will be able to have a moment together and experience a never-before-seen, intimate performance, and we are so thrilled to be able to offer this to our own family of viewers on ABC,” said Eric Avram, VP talent and Booking at ABC Entertainment, in a statement via The Hollywood Reporter.
Swift spoke about the news further in a virtual message to Good Morning America, giving viewers another sneak peek at the special. Not only will fans get to see the singer’s performance, but they’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at Swift’s trip to Paris.
This will be Swift’s only full concert performance this year, as she’s had to reschedule all four stops of her Lover Fest tour. It included four festival-style events in Foxborough, Massachusetts (Lover Fest East) and Los Angeles (Lover Fest West). “I’m so sad I won’t be able to see you guys in concert this year, but I know this is the right decision,” she tweeted on April 17. “Please, please stay healthy and safe. I’ll see you on stage as soon as I can but right now what’s important is committing to this quarantine, for the sake of all of us.”
Taylor Swift City of Lover Concert will air on ABC on May 17 at 7 p.m. PT/ 10 p.m. ET and be available the following day on demand, Hulu, and Disney+.
